Piles are also termed as Haemorrhoids. This piles is the condition in which the veins of the anus get swollen, and it is almost similar to the varicose veins. There are two types of piles or piles, such as internal Piles and external piles.

The condition where the swollen veins found inside the rectum is known as Internal Piles while in the other type, the swollen vein is located inside the or under the skin around the area of the anus is called as External Piles.

What are the symptoms of Piles?

There are specific symptoms for piles to detect it in the early stage such as,

  • Bleeding in the anal region
  • Itching, redness, burning in the anal
  • The part around the anus will get swollen

What are the causes of Piles?

Generally, piles occur due to the higher pressure in the veins of the rectum region. This is caused due to the following factors,

  • A person will experience a strain during bowel movement if the diet consists of low fiber content. It will also lead to an increase in the vein’s pressure.
  • Sitting on the toilet for a more extended period will also increase the pressure of blood vessels.
  • Obesity and diarrhea.
  • During pregnancy, the uterus will be enlarged will lead to the high pressure in the blood vessels around the area of rectum and anus and can lead to the development of piles.
  • Colon cancer
  • Injury in the spinal cord

What are the treatments for Piles?

Banding: The elastic band is inserted around the pile to prevent the blood supply. Then finally, the piles will get cured.

Sclerotherapy: In this method, the drug is injected into the area of piles. It is an efficient method to treat piles.

Infrared coagulation: In this process, the tissues affected by the piles are destroyed by the infrared light coagulation device.

Haemorrhoidectomy: This is the well-known surgical method to remove the excess tissue of piles to prevent bleeding. The process is initiated by giving general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia to lift the pile’s muscles altogether.

What are the preventive measures that should be followed for Piles?

Here are some of the instructions which would be useful to protect ourselves from piles,

Fluid intake: You should consume plenty amount of water to keep you hydrated all day. Drink about six to nine glasses of water every day. You can also use other liquid items such as fresh fruit juices instead of water. This way would help you to make the stool soft.

Large fiber-containing food items: The stool will get softened if the person eats a lot of fruits, vegetables along with the whole grain items. The stool size will increase, which helps in relieving the strain. Try to take about 30 grams of fiber content in a day.

Avoid straining: When a person is holding the breath or straining to pass the stool, it will create high pressure in the veins of the lower part of the rectum. It would eventually lead to inflammation in the veins.

Exercise: If you want to avoid facing constipation and to reduce the enormous pressure in the vein of the lower rectum, the training will help you here. The problems can occur when a person held in a position for a longer time, like sitting or standing.

Don’t hold back: Avoid holding back when you feel the urge to pass the stool. You can avoid this problem if you pass the stool as soon as possible. When you delay this, the seat will get hardened and become difficult to pass. It would create pressure in the veins and will result in hemorrhoids.
